The Most Thankful Thing. by Lisa McCourt (Author), Cyd Moore (Illustrator) Sharing the gratitude that we have for our children is a great way to help them develop grateful thinking. In this sweet story, a little girl asks her mom what her “most thankful thing ever” is.   I keep telling myself that I need to reread this book, but honestly, it’s kind of like THE LIFE CHANGING MAGIC OF TIDYING UP—you don’t remember why you’re supposed to feel joy, or that thing about donating, but you do remember that you’re supposed to clean one room at a time, and that changes your life in a substantial enough way.

Although trials usually do not prompt us to be thankful, the Book of Mormon shows that times of trial are the best times to give thanks. When Lehi was travelling through the desert, and his family was suffering greatly, he gave thanks to the Lord when he arrived at a river of water. Later Nephites also gave thanks during times of warfare. These examples show us how we can also. The book’s cheery, upbeat message is clearly meant to inspire optimistic gratitude; Parr exhorts children to “remember some [things to be thankful for] every day.” Uncomplicated and worthwhile for any age. (Picture book. ).

My all-time favorite thing to do to help students realize what they have to be thankful for is to have them write in a Thankful Journal or Gratitude Journal.

Gratitude journals are really simple to make. You can use notebook paper, a composition book, or even have your students design their own.

A young girl explores her mother's scrap book searching for clues to discover the one thing for which her mother feels most grateful. From camping days to college graduation, each time the girl declares she's found the ultimate moment, her mom responds that it's not quite her "most thankful thing." McCourt's narrative, set in a dialogue format between mother and child, neatly segues from past.

The Most Thankful Thing (Picture Book): McCourt, Lisa: A girl looks at old photographs with her mother, trying to figure out what her mother feels most grateful for in her life. The Frowny Forest: The first stop is the Frowny Forest. Have the kids all mimic you as you frown, cross your arms, and hunch over.

There is a lot of wind in the Frowny Forest, so mimic being tossed about by the wind, turning back and forth as if you are trying to fight it.

The only way to leave the Frowny Forest is to feel happy again, so ask. The opportunities, the experiences, and my friends and family make up my feelings of gratitude this Thanksgiving.

I also recall what I wrote two years ago in my book Perfect Day and realize that the words written there are more true today than ever before.

“The things we are most thankful for are not financial in nature, but more core-centric.”. The book is about a little girl who asks her mom what she is most thankful for. they look through the mom's old scrapbook at important pictures of events throughout her life.

In the end of the book is a picture of the little girl as a baby and the mom reveals that she is her most thankful : Nicole Heinlein.
